Made of Stories is a research project examining a series of particular junctures where ‘design research’ and ‘story-telling’ intersect.
This project was developed with a view to how story-telling manifests as design practice as well as story-telling as the means for archiving and transmitting research work beyond expected outcomes.
Three main streams featured within the publication look at ‘liguistic forensics’ (in relation to indigenous langauges), Narratology (as a semiotic langauge) and Nuclear Semiotics.
Made of Stories is supported by a print publication initially produced in 2020 (to be updated and re-released in 2023). ¶ The project was launched via two live streamed events which you can view recordings of below. ¶ If you’re interested in reading a copy, get in contact ︎.
The two videos shown here were exhibited as part of the Moving in Stasis group show at Het Nieuwe Instituut in 2021. ¶ The first video is a recording of a live ‘open studio’ during which work-in-progress was exposed, leading up to a second livestream. ¶ The 2nd live stream taking the the format of a performative lecture introducing Made of Stories as a project and field of research.
Made of Stories was designed and produced as a final thesis project for the Critical Inquiry Lab MA at Design Academy Eindhoven. The live streams were exhibited as part of the Moving in Stasis group show at Het Nieuwe Instituut in 2021.
