What we talk about when we talk about architecture
What We Talk About When We Talk About Architecture documents a series of conversations between visiting lecturers Beatriz Colomina, Peter Wilson and Rural Urban Framework and students and architectural practitioners organised by the Melbourne School of Design (MSD) at The University of Melbourne.
The book was edited by Scott Woods and also included a set of companion essays by writers including Diane Yvonne Francis Ghirardo, Justin Clemens and Sven-Olov Wallenstein as well as two colour portfolios of works by Peter Wilson and Rural Urban Framework.
The design approach was informed by a desire to present these conversations in an uncomplicated and easy to follow manner while making clear the distinctions and relationships between transcripts, essays and portfolios. This was achieved through the use of bold typographic cues and connecting lines that diverted expected page structures along ‘ley lines’ formed specifically by the content.
